Cancellation - Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment. There is a $50 fee for short notice cancellation unless the time slot gets filled by another client. In the case of "no-shows", the full amount of the missed session will be due. These must be paid before your next visit. This is because filling a time slot is not typically possible on short notice, and results in missed opportunities for other clients as well as myself.

Late Arrivals - If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.

All sales are final after two business days. However, if you are for any reason unsatisfied, please contact me, and we will find a solution. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

It depends on the situation. For prevention, general wellness, and keeping issues at bay, most people find that once a month is a good maintenance schedule. However, to address issues that are more severe, the best results come from sessions at closer intervals at first, such as once a week, to help get things under control, then moving into the maintenance schedule. Regardless, consistency is key to get the most out of massage therapy. Just like taking care of your car, going to the gym, or saving for retirement, it’s an investment in your quality of life!

Your session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room in an office. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped under a sheet and a blanket during the entire session. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. As for certain massages such as Sports, comfortable athletic wear may be worn instead of draping.

The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet and warm blanket.

A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. If you have a specific problem, it is possible to spend most of, if not the entire session working in that area of the body. In some circumstances the pectoral or gluteal muscle groups may need addressing. These areas will only be worked on using modest draping, and with your express consent.

A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. A massage cream is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin.

With a more therapeutic work like deep tissue massage or trigger point therapy, the session will usually begin similar to a relaxation massage, then progress into firm and more focused pressure. Tight areas in muscles can be a tender to work on, but many experienced clients come to refer to this as "hurts so good" feeling. Breathing deeply and keeping the body relaxed can help these areas let go faster. Always remember, the session is totally in your control, so if at any point you would like the pressure to be decreased or increased please let me know. Communication is absolutely essential for getting the most out of your sessions!

Prior to the massage, feel free to ask any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

Most people feel instantly relaxed and re-energized. Some experience a significant improvement of long-term pains and aches. Others witness an increase in flexibility and range of motion. Most claim there is a feeling of heightened awareness, mental alertness and increased productivity for fays after the therapy.

It is normal after a deep massage to feel slightly sore on the following day similar to after an intense workout. A hot shower or a tub can help ease those feelings. You are advised to hydrate after your massage to stay healthy and stimulate detoxification. It's also typically recommended not to engage in any rigorous activity immediately following massage. Try to take it easy for the rest of the day if possible.

Some people may feel a bit lightheaded when getting up after the session. This too is normal, and subsides within a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
